This website has been developed to enable you to receive the best possible care from the Practice. We have a team of dedicated doctors and other health professionals available for your care. If you do have any problems or ideas for improvement, please do not hesitate to speak to a receptionist first.
Tong Medical Practice sets measurable standards that take into account our responsibility for delivering national and local priorities in health care. These standards are reviewed regularly and we monitor our performance against the standards set by clinical audits.
The Practice is fully accessible for disabled people with suitable toilet facilities. A wheelchair is available and staff are happy to help patients with access. Please advise the Receptionist if you will require the wheelchair or help when you book your Appointment.

Anticoagulation Clinic (Warfarin)
This clinic is run by a specialist nurse. This provides a monitoring service for patients on warfarin and other anticoagulants. Clinics are held by appointment at the Highfield Health Centre (Tong Medical Practice) every Thursday.
This clinic is run by GPs and Midwives for pregnant women.
This clinic is run by Sister P Kontos (Practice Nurse) for over 5 year olds to establish diagnosis, check inhaler technique, monitor treatment and offer advice and support.
This clinic is run for the Mother and Baby check. Baby will have its 1st immunisations and 8 Week Check. Post Natal checks can be booked with Anne Petty from 6 weeks after giving birth.
Blood Pressure & 24 Hour BP Monitoring
Our hypertension clinic is run by OUR HCA'S V Fold (Healthcare Assistants).
Blue Badge Disability Scheme
This service is by referral only and is managed by Dr M N Khan,
Chaperone and Interpreter Services
The practice offers a chaperone service to both male and female patients. No prior arrangements are necessary. The practice also offers an interpretation service, but it is by prior arrangement or by telephone link for emergencies.
Chronic Kidney Disease
This Clinic is run by a Practice Nurse with specialist knowledge to advise and monitor patients with this condition.
COPD – Spirometry
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Management, this clinic is run by our Practice Nurse and Senior Healthcare Assistant.
Coronary Heart Disease
This clinic is run by a Practice Nurse with specialist knowledge to advise and monitor patients with this condition.
The diabetes management clinic is run by Sister P Kontos (Practice Nurse)
This service is carried out by our HCA's but you must be seen by a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner first for them to ascertain that syringing is necessary/appropriate.
An electrocardiogram is used to detect abnormal heart rhythms and to investigate the cause of chest pains. This test is performed by Snr HCA V Fold or HCA C Thompson (Healthcare Assistants)
The Epilepsy Clinic is run by our Practice Nurses.
Children's immunisations are administered by our Practice Nurses.
Minor Surgery – Joint Injections
Joint injections are managed and administered by Dr M N Khan.
Minor Wounds and Removal of Stitches and Staples
We hold 2 Clinics each week (Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon) to perform this service. Please contact the Surgery to arrange an appointment.
Sexual Health & Contraception
Unfortunately, we no longer provide sexual health clinics. Please contact Locala on 0303 3309500 and they will advise you further.
We do offer coil and implant fittings/removals. Please contact the surgery to make an appointment.
Smear Tests (Cervical Screening)
Smear tests are carried out by our Practice Nurses.
Unfortunately, we no longer provide this service at the Practice. For advice and help on quitting smoking, call 01274 437700, they will advise you further.

We have a diabetic Dietician who attends the Surgery once a month to offer dietary advice to our diabetic Patients. Please speak to a member of the nursing staff or doctor if you would like to see the Dietician.
A GP with Special Interest(GPwSI) in Epilepsy runs an outreach clinic here every week.

We have a permanent Podiatrist based here full time called Tom Morgan. He is a Senior Podiatrist employed by Bradford District Care Trust, the Podiatry Appointments are by referral only and are managed centrally by the Administration Hub, which you can contact on 01274 251777.
Substance Misuse Service
Talking Therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our Reception Staff will be happy to advise you about them along with Appointment availability.
We charge £20.00 for a private "to whom it may concern" letter which is payable in advance. There is a 1 to 2 week time frame for a letter to be completed.
Unfortunately, this service is no longer held at the surgery.

Our meeting rooms are able to provide the perfect venue for meetings, conferences and presentations.
